Stay at Home Mom Jobs Online

Stay at home mom jobs are a great way to earn extra money! I have made 1000 dollars or more per month using these best ideas for making extra money at home. Use these tips to find online jobs like data entry, on Amazon, starting a business, and many more!

Best Stay at Home Mom Jobs Online

Have you been looking for legitimate stay-at-home mom jobs online but are feeling kind of lost? I totally get where you’re coming from…when I was pregnant with my first son, I knew for sure that I wanted to stay home with him for the first year. As a teacher, I was able to take 1 year of unpaid maternity leave.

When my Principal started calling to see if I was ready to come back the next year, I became SO stressed out that I literally developed sores in my mouth at the thought of going back to a job I didn’t love and leaving my little boy. I was miserable, and that’s when I started seriously looking for online stay-at-home mom jobs that I could easily do while he was napping.

You probably need to make more than a few bucks per month with easy online job opportunities like making money with surveys.

That’s why today I’m sharing the best stay-at-home mom jobs that I WISH I had known about before taking the leap to stay home. These real stay-at-home jobs for moms (that I have done as a mom) make $1,000 dollars or more per month. You can easily start one of these flexible jobs for moms that pay well and earn even more than I made if you have the time to invest in an online job.

Search Engine Evaluator

If you’ve been around Smart Cents Mom at all, then you know that working for Leapforce is one of my favorite stay-at-home jobs. This job is so flexible and project-based which is perfect for any mom (or dad!) who wants to work from home. It is a great job if you are like me and have no experience working at home. When I was working at a mother’s day out program, I would work on my Leapforce project during the kids’ nap time. I made between $12 – $14 per hour, and I usually only worked 1-2 hours per day!

PROS

  • Flexible job that you can pick up and put down as you have time
  • Easy work
  • Pays well and on time each month

CONS

  • Work can be monotonous after awhile
  • You have to keep your time down to the minute (not difficult to do, but sometimes I would forget to start the timer)
  • If your project ends, you may not qualify for another project

My project ended after I worked for about 18 months, and my contract wasn’t renewed. Leapforce was bought out by Appen, so you may want to go ahead and apply to the other companies. I think this is why they didn’t renew my contract.

You can also apply to Lionbridge or Appen!

Proofreading

Proofreading earns between $3 – $4 per page depending on experience and if you are working as a freelancer or for a company. (Freelancers can typically charge more.) If you have an eagle eye for catching grammar mistakes, then this could be a great way to make a side income online.

PROS

  • Flexible
  • Project-based work
  • Work from anywhere (traveling, at home, etc.)
  • Doesn’t require an internet connection

CONS

  • Takes time to build up clients if you start your own business
  • Takes time to earn more money (as you gain experience)
  • May need to take a course to improve your skills

Stay at Home Teacher Jobs

 VIP Kid

Working with VIP Kid has been a great experience for me and my family. My teaching schedule was early mornings from 5 am  – 7 am EST/5 pm – 7 pm Beijing time. I was able to teach 3 mornings per week and included a couple of weekends each month. I was making $20 per hour (I have a Masters’s Degree in elementary education).

PROS

  • Flexibility
  • Company provides great support to teachers
  • Fun
  • Pre-planned lessons so there is no extra work
  • Great pay
  • Pay on time and offer bonuses each month for meeting different goals

CONS

  • Early mornings (but I actually got used to it!)
  • Difficult to cancel classes (makes it difficult if your spouse is traveling)
  • My kids never “sleep” when they are supposed to so I can teach

I haven’t taught classes in a few months because I was having to cancel constantly due to my husband traveling for his job. I didn’t want to risk being fired for cancellations, so I put the job on hold until our timing is better.

Freelance Writing Jobs for Moms

Freelance Writing

I am a really shy and introverted person, so it was pretty hard to build up the courage to go to a networking event in my town for women who wanted to get back into the workforce. At this meet and greet, I introduced myself to the head of the organization, and she later hired me to be a freelance writer for her business blog. I made $30 per blog post (which is actually very low pay) and usually had 10 posts per month. Since I had no other experience in freelance writing, other than my own blog, I felt like this was a great way to make money while gaining experience.

PROS

  • Project-based work, so you don’t have to be at your computer at specific times
  • Getting paid to write (which I enjoy)
  • Interesting topics

CONS

  • It can be difficult to get better pay with little to no experience as a writer
  • It took away from writing on my blog (which is now my major source of side income!)

Freelance writing is a great side hustle if you have the time to focus on it. As you gain experience, you can raise your rates per article. Some freelance writers like Gina Horkey or the Horkey Handbook earn $500 or more per blog post!

Blogging

I don’t talk about blogging much, but it has become my number one favorite stay-at-home job online. My time is limited as a stay-at-home mom, so I have to really focus on what I can do in the few hours per day that I can work. Once I stopped pursuing other side hustles and started focusing on my blog, I started consistently making $1000 or more per month!

PROS

  • Flexibility
  • Setting my own deadlines
  • Earning potential is unlimited
  • Get to help people from all over the world with the articles I write

CONS

  • The learning curve is REAL (I have spent more time learning how to blog for money than I have spent writing!)
  • Takes anywhere from 9 months to 1 year to consistently earn income
  • It can be discouraging if I don’t meet my goals

Blogging as a side hustle is so worth the hard work that you put in. Some people talk about blogging as a way to make money fast, but most people who start a blog don’t earn money for the first 6 months they start a blog. (Like not even a penny!) Others who have had a blog in the past can start earning money faster on a new blog.

The recipe for making money with blogging is life-long learning, hard work, and TIME.

You can take my FREE Start a Blog Email Course, which will walk you through the steps of starting a new blog!
